Aim

To identify, appreciate, re-create art forms in Karnataka and promote them for social interaction, integration and transformation.

 
Objectives

• To study local and indigenous art forms presently in use in Karnataka in various spheres of human life such as social, cultural and religious, and promote them so that they can accelerate human development and foster human values.
• To conduct regular certificate/diploma courses in traditional dance and folk arts for students irrespective of their caste, creed, race or economic affiliation.
• To research, document and serve as a forum for exchange of information with regard to traditional and modern dance forms, folk arts, folklore and other forms of cultural expressions.
• To undertake production of material on people's art forms for education and thus facilitate community development.
• To co-operate and collaborate with artists and other organizations, institutions and individuals involved in the pursuit of people's development.
• To conduct training programmes in youth leadership, journalism, yakshagana etc. and to invite learned resource persons to conduct these programmes.
• To provide a forum for exchange of views through Kaladarshini programmes.
• To institute awards for excellence in arts, education and media programmes.

Rules and Regulations

1. Persons desiring to enroll themselves as students for these part-time courses have to fill up an application form.
2. A registration fee has to be paid which is non refundable.
3. Fees for each category of classes have to be paid separately by the 10th of each month, after which a fine of Rs. 25/- will be levied.
4. Students not paying the fees by the 20th of the month will not be admitted to the class.
5. Absence from class has to be justified by producing a leave note signed by the parent / guardian (in the space provided in the prospectus). Unjustified absence of more than three days in a month will make the student liable to be struck off the rolls. The student whose name has been struck off the roll will have to   re-register himself / herself to rejoin the class. Fees have to be paid even for the period taken as leave. There will not be classes during Dasara and Summer courses when the students can join these courses without paying the registration fees for these courses.
6. Admissions will be made only at the beginning of the month. A student joining a class has to continue for a minimum of six months as the classes are so framed as to cover a certain portion of the syllabus during those six months.
7. Examinations will be held at the end of every six months (in April and October every year) and certificates awarded to those passing the exams. Dates of the exams will be notified on the notice-board.
8. In Western music (keyboard) students will be prepared for the Grade examinations similar to those of the Trinity College of Music, London. Application forms have to be submitted by those wishing to appear for these exams. Dates will be notified on the notice-board.
9. Students will be prepared for the Junior and Senior grade examinations conducted by the government (wherever applicable).
10. Kaladarshini programmes arranged every month will give exposure to the students. Students who wish to attend extra classes will have to pay extra fees proportionately.
    
    

Discipline

Discipline and punctuality are expected of the students attending the KKK classes. Indiscipline and misbehaviour will not be tolerated. Students are expected to dress properly while attending the classes at KKK.

Students are expected to keep their footwear out on the verandah where a special rack has been put for this purpose.

No shouting or loitering about is permitted in the Sandesha premises, which are to be kept clean. 

Disobedience to teachers will be viewed seriously and may entail dismissal from the class.

Homework given as part of the studies has to be done punctually and efforts made to be up to date in one’s studies.

Instruments which are given for their use have to be handled carefully and any damages will have to be made good. Students are also expected to bring to the notice of the teacher any damage to the instruments.

No instruments, materials or books of the institutions can be taken out of the institution without the written permission of the Director. 

Students are expected to go back to their homes immediately after their classes. Proper arrangements have to be made by the parents to pick them after the class timings.
